Rarely an expert panelist must be removed from the Board approved list. Some of the reasons for removal are:

• Failure to adhere to the deadlines required by staff.
• The expert's reports do not fulfill the requirements described in this tutorial.
• Conviction of a crime.
• Experience excessive professional liability claims.
• Loss of hospital privileges for cause.
• Retirement from active practice.
• Violation of the confidentiality agreement.

In addition, if TMB receives a complaint about a panelist and initiates an investigation, the panelist will be not be able to review cases until the investigation is resolved.
